Uma Lou is named after my beloved dog — a spotted Catahoula Leopard dog.

My floral compositions are inspired by what I love most: observing the plant world- textures, shades, relationships between plants, wild resilience, soft elegant gestures. All things that can be found by sitting with plants, trees and flowers.

The sculptural aspect of my work comes from my background in the arts, dance and poetry- where balance and measure can convey emotional weight.

I source my flowers from premium flower markets as well as foraged items and plants I’ve grown myself in own garden. The vessels I use are either from second hand shops or in collaboration with ceramicists.

Each arrangement is photographed in my own backyard, against a weathered wall that's become as much a part of the work as the flowers themselves. I prepare arrangements for businesses, bridal shops, hotels, restaurants upon subscription and also sell bouquets and arrangements at pop up shops. I also do floral design and installations for special events and weddings- anything that needs some magic and decoration.
